Glen Oaks Capital is not traditional private equity. As an independent sponsor, Glen Oaks Capital treats each investment as a unique partnership among sellers, managers, and investors without the inherent conflicts created by a portfolio approach. We structure each transaction to align the economic interests of management and the investors based on the unique circumstances of the individual company.

While all investors seek companies protected by high barriers to entry or differentiated technology, the truth in the lower middle market is that execution and people contribute more to investment success than is typical with larger companies.

Team

Glen Oaks Capital was formed by John Powers after a career in investment banking, turnaround consulting, and fifteen years of private equity investing at Millbrook Capital Management, a single-family office making control investments in the lower middle-market.

Prior to founding Glen Oaks Capital, John spent fifteen years at Millbrook Capital Management making public and private equity investments in manufacturing, business services, and healthcare on behalf of a single family office. At Millbrook Capital, John closed 13 control acquisitions and while also conducting research for a concentrated portfolio of small cap investments as part of MCM’s activist investment strategy.

Prior to Millbrook Capital, John worked in the Corporate Restructuring Group of Alvarez & Marsal. At Alvarez & Marsal he served as restructuring advisor to both debtor and creditor clients in a multitude of Chapter 11 and out-of-court reorganizations. Prior to joining Alvarez & Marsal, John was an investment banking analyst in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group of SoundView, where he served clients on a variety of buy-side and sell-side mergers and acquisitions.
John holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Georgetown University and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
